I have talked to very many people out there and they do say that they
would actually like to become entrepreneurs some day and for most of them
becoming an entrepreneur will most likely remain a dream.
This means that most
of them will never become entrepreneurs simply because they will keep
postponing and rescheduling their dream of starting their own business or
company.
Today, I would like to talk about some of the things that are keeping
very many people away from their dream of becoming a successful entrepreneur.
1. You claim you are too busy
For most people the idea of starting up their own business is a
nightmare simply because they think and believe that they already have enough
on their plate.
Someone will tell you
that they do have a family to take care of and also they do have a full time
job that does not give them the time to start their own business or venture.
I do believe that there
is always time if you are willing to create it to do the things that you do
have passion for and are willing to also chase the most important goals or
dreams in your life like starting up your own business.
For example if you are interested in writing a book, you can decide to work on
that book in the evening time after work or you can decide to wake up very
early in the morning and write a few pages and before you know it, you will
realise that you have actually written a whole book.
The little effort that you
do apply to your dream counts each and every day. Just look at Elon Musk who is
the founder of SpaceX, Solar city and Tesla. He is a full time entrepreneur and
he has a family with five children to take care of.
If he can do it and even
have the time to run more than two companies at the same time, then you can
also do it. One sole reason why you should work on your dream should be for the
sake of your family.
If you have ever watched a movie called the Pursuit of
Happyness which is based on a true story.
Chris Garner worked hard simply because he had a child who needed a roof
over his head.
2. You claim
you do not have the experience
Very many people have given up on their dreams simply because they do
believe that they do not have the experience or skill to run the business themselves
and so they decide to walk away just like that from their dreams.
If you truly
believe that you do not have the required skills, you can learn those skills
yourself.
In this digital age, there is no hiding information and so you can
use search engines like Google, Yahoo or Bing to get information about the
skills that you want to learn If you are lacking programming skills to build am
ecommerce platform, you can decide to
get some tutorials online and start teaching yourself how to code.
If you feel that you cannot learn those skills, you can hire people who
have the experience and the required skills and delegate the activity to them.
Take a look at Richard Branson who is the founder of 400 companies.
Without any
experience, he was able to build those companies by delegating some of the
activities and trusting some people enough to know that they could deliver on
the promises.
3. You claim
you do not have degree
Most people believe they should first get a Masters Degree in Business
Administration before they can start their own business or company. But the
truth is that is not actually necessary to kick start your own venture.
Just look at some of the most successful
entrepreneurs who have changed our world like Steve Jobs, Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates, they dropped out of college and
were able to succeed in the world of business.
To be successful in business, you do not have to actually have an
MBA. You just need to gain some of the
required critical skills like sales and marketing, customer care and all these
you can learn while on the job.
If you want to start your dream business, just
kick-start it and keep moving, you will learn the required lessons and skills
along the way.
4. You claim
you do not have enough capital
I have talked to very many youths in Uganda about starting a business
since the unemployment levels are high and what most of them usually tell me is
that they actually do not have the money or capital to start their own business
venture.
If you do not have enough
capital to start your dream business, then use the little capital or money that
you do have to start a small business first and when it has grown, then you can
proceed and start your dream business.
Take a look at Elon Musk who decided to
start a company called ZIP2, and after he sold it he started PayPal and now he
is running Space X, Solar City and Tesla using the resources that he got from
the sale of his first company.
5. You fear
failure
One reason why very many people fear starting up their own business or
company is that they fear that they will fail in the business.
Very many people
are trapped in jobs that they actually do not like but they are there because
it helps pay their bills and so they fear that if they quit and start their own
businesses and the business fails, they will end up needy and nowhere to run
to.
In life almost everything is a risk and so you do not need to fear failure,
you should remember that if you are not failing it means that you are not actually
doing certain things or anything in your life.
If you know a man called Bill Gates, then you should be knowing a
company called Microsoft.
Before starting Microsoft, Bill Gates and his friend Paul Allen started
a company called Traff-o-data which
actually was a failure and they decided to start another company called
Microsoft which today is one of the biggest companies in the world.
Even the
successful once failed and so you should not fear failure but instead pick up
the lessons and move on to your next business venture.
I do
believe that one day you will be successful. Good luck.
