TOP TOURIST SITES THAT YOU SHOULD VISIT WHILE YOU ARE IN UGANDA

Uganda is one of the top tourist destinations in East Africa and this country which is called the pearl of Africa receives very many visitors into the country like never before.

 Today, I would like to highlight and talk about some of the tourist destinations that every foreigner visiting this country should go to just to be able to understand the history, beauty and what this great east African country has to offer.

1.  Gorilla Trekking

This is one of the most common and known activities that are done by tourists who visit this country called the pearl of Africa.  

If you come to Uganda, you should go and try out Gorilla trekking in the western part of Uganda in a district called Kasese district.  Uganda is among the two countries in Africa that have gorilla species as one of the tourist attractions. 

You can go Gorilla trekking and find out how those animals survive, their behaviours and how they generally live and survive in this country. Trekking Gorillas is fun and you will enjoy the activity especially if you are someone who appreciates and loves nature and animals.

 If you are a foreigner or a tourist who has just arrived into the country, you should endeavour not to miss this great activity called gorilla trekking.

2. Queen Elizabeth National Park

If you are a lover of animals and nature, one place that you can go to in Uganda and find out more about the animals is Queen Elizabeth National park. 

This national park is located in the western part of Uganda and you will love the trip. 

This national park has very many numbers of animals and even some species of birds that you can view as you enjoy the natural environment very far away from the hustle and bustle of the town centres. 

You will likely find animals like Zebras, Lions, Antelopes and many other animals including Elephants. 

If you are foreigner in this country, you cannot live out and even miss out on visiting this great national park.

3. Murchison Falls National park

This national park is found in the northern part of Uganda around a place called Karuma. 

You will likely find animals like Hippopotamus, Antelopes and even some elephants in that national Park. 

You will also have the privilege of enjoying bird watching while you are at this national park. 

If you are a very person in this country and you do have some money to spend, this is one national park that you should not actually miss out on visiting. 

You can learn a lot about the different animals and how they live in the wild and also enjoy the adventure of  nature while in Uganda.

4. Kidepo National park

This great national park is found in the North Eastern part of Uganda and  it is located in a district called  Kotido district.  

This national park has very many animals and also some birds species that you should not miss when you visit it. 

You will also have the privilege of seeing some Ostriches, Lions and even some elephants in the national park. 

This is one of the best tourist destinations in Uganda and for any tourist who has come into the country; you should not actually miss out on visiting this great national park.

5. Uganda Martyrs Shrine

If you are a religious person and you actually do believe in God and you have come to visit Uganda as a tourist, this is one place that will help to strengthen your faith. 

Uganda Martyrs Shrine is found in Namugongo which is  not actually very far from the city centre and so you will most likely access it easily.  

You will be able to see the places where these people who were among the first Christians in Uganda were killed and you will also be able to visit the museum where these story of the Uganda martyrs is told in form of different sculptures and forms. 

You can also go away with some holy water which was believed to be used by the chief executioner of the Kabaka of Buganda called Mukajanga who was responsible for the massacre of these people who died because of their strong faith in God. 

If you are Christian whether catholic or Anglican, this is one place that you should visit without fail while you are in Uganda.

6. Uganda Museum

If you are interested in knowing about the history of Uganda and some of the cultures in Uganda, Uganda museum is one place that you should not actually fail to visit while you are in Uganda.  

This place is located at Kitante near the golf course just after Kamwokya in Kampala district.

 At the Uganda museum, you will be able to find the different things like the first printing press in Uganda, the first car in Uganda and many other things that talk about the history of Uganda at large.  

The beauty about this place is that the entry fee is very cheap and you will be able to get value for your money. 

You will be able to see very many things that talk about the history of the Ugandan people, their cultures and generally where this country called Uganda came from. This is one place that you should not miss to visit while you are in Uganda.

7. Kasubi Tombs

If you are interested in the Ugandan history and particularly the Buganda Kingdom, you should be able to visit this place called Kasubi tombs. 

This is the place where the ancient kings of the great Buganda Kingdom were buried. 

At this place, you will be able to see the graves of some Kings of Buganda who lived and ruled Buganda Kingdom like Muteesa1 who invited the British to come to Uganda and also Kabaka Mwanga who ordered the killing of the Uganda Martyrs. 

This is one place where you will learn a lot about Buganda Kingdom and it’s existence. For any tourist who is in Uganda or planning to come to the pearl of Africa, this is one place where you will learn more about Buganda Kingdom.

8.  The source of the Nile in Jinja

Jinja is one of the top tourist destinations in Uganda that you should not actually miss if you are in this country. If you want to see where the longest river in Africa has it’s source, then you should be able to visit Jinja district.  

You will be able to see the source of the Nile and also you will be able to see the place where John Speke who was first white man to see the source of the Nile actually stood when he visited Uganda. While in Jinja, you should not miss out on the fun of bungee jumping. 

This is one activity that very many tourists come to do in Uganda. You will enjoy Jinja district and the different attractions that it has to offer.
