There are very many people who are coming out of the universities every year and they are actually jobless. They immediately realise this the moment they are out of the gates of the University. 

During that painful period when you are out of school and unemployed, you can learn so many things that can make your life better in the long run. 

It can be so bad when you are waking up every morning with no job to go to but only watching television series or the latest movies all day. 

Here are some to do things that you can do after school during that time when you are actually in limbo.

Take up internships

Showing up for internships during your days after writing your last paper is actually a good way of keeping busy and alert. 

If you are lucky enough and you land an internship gig in a very nice place, you might easily land a job for yourself. Some good places also pay up their interns during their time at the office. 

But even if you are not lucky enough to earn some money, you will most likely gain some skills that will ultimately be valuable for you in the near future to come.

Learn new skills

You are now free and ready to roll around in the world; this is the best time for you to gain those skills that you have always wanted to acquire. 

This could be driving that is if you do not actually know how to drive yet.  You can also learn some coding skills for some of us who are technology enthusiasts. 

There are many programming languages out there depending on what you are passionate about, you can decide to equip yourself with skills which may become valuable in the near future. 

If you are interested in website development,  it’s time to get familiar with HTML and CSS scripting languages and when you get good, you can then add on PHP and JavaScript and you will be good to go. 

May be you are passionate about building web applications; this is actually the best time to do that perfectly.

Read Self-help Books

You have just spend the last four years reading lots of books and handouts, but truth be told education is continuous.

 If you pick up some self-help books, you will more likely learn things that you were not actually taught in school take for example you could read books about financial independence since this subject is not actually taught in school. 

This will give you an added advantage and a better way of handling your money so that when you start working, you will not struggle financially. 

You can also read books about starting businesses and how to become an entrepreneur who is successful.

Follow your passion

We all know that for the people who are very successful in the world, passion rules their world. If you have any burning desire to achieve anything in the world, this is the best time to explore it. 

You could be out there yearning to become the next Michael Jackson or the next Beyonce Knowles in the music industry. This is the best time to exploit that desire. You can even learn how to play an instrument like a guitar or a keyboard or piano if you so wish. 

You now control how you use your time for the time being since you are no longer in school. This passion may curve out a career that may in the end become more rewarding than you ever imagined. 

Today with the high unemployment levels in our country, the best thing you can do for yourself is to discover yourself and find out who you actually are. 

This will help you know your strengths and weaknesses that you can exploit to help you become the best version of yourself.
