During that period, his mother had to learn how to make pancakes so that they could sell in order to make a living for themselves.

He said that he would be given pancakes to sell at the age of seven and by that time, he had already learnt how to ride bicycles and would sell each pancake at five shillings and give the money to his parents.

During his Olevel vacation, Kin Karisa with the help of his brothers set up a salon in Mbarara town that used the latest technology for shaving hair at the time, the salon became very popular and by the time the vacation ended, Kin was able to make enough money for beginning his A levels.   After completing his A’ level education.

Kin Karisa went to Makerere University where he studied Bachelor of Statistics and obtained a second class Upper degree.

While at University, Kin Kariisa set up an Information technology company called Kin Systems after his brother bought for him a computer from the UK.

Kin systems carried out research for students and helped compile reports for them. The venture made for him some money which he decided to invest in other businesses.

He was retained at the University as a teaching assistant in the faculty of Computing where he lectured and taught students for a certain period of time.

During his time as a lecturer in the University, Kin Kariisa decided to venture into the world of business.

He setting up Kin Group which is a holding company for his businesses in construction, IT, agriculture and media.  He bought a control stake in NBS television after the founder sold the television station to him.

According to Kin Karisa by the time he bought NBS television, the viewership of television station had reduced and the station was about to close.

After buying the television, they set up a new management and started broadcasting live events which became very popular with the Ugandan audience.

Kin Kariisa was awarded a scholarship to pursue PhD in the UK but decided to quit before completing the course.
